The dawn of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) is glowing brighter than ever. With a groundbreaking number of VR/AR exhibitors at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017, we’re seeing VR/AR cameras and displays on everything from smartphones, to cars, to drones. Though gaming is often the first thing that comes to mind at the mention of these, the truth is that VR and AR have a huge opportunity to impact the way we work and create. Join our Safers for a coffee as they talk about what VR and AR mean for those of us in geospatial.

Text is tricky in VR. Gui Text won't work, and 3D text initially looks rubbish. With a few steps you can make it look awesome, AND make it render correctly behind other objects in your scene. So, check out this video, and become a 3D text sage in Unity 3D! The technology behind virtual reality and Google Street View is no longer something only big tech companies can afford. With handheld 360 cameras, anyone can take a spherical image and develop something interactive with the results. Join our Safers for a coffee as they talk about Ricoh’s Theta camera and take you through an interactive VR demo of the Safe Software office.
